Helping Chad's kids...

My schedule on Saturday only allowed me to be at the benefit for a short time just after the benefit began, but it was good to see such a good crowd there that early and also to see such a great amount of items donated by family, friends, and the racing community to help Chad's family. If you see this and could not attend but would still like to make a donation email Doug Pratt at pratts3@casscomm.com or call him at 309-357-2665.

Chad Allan Pratt left us on a Sunday morning, March 30, 2008. Chad’s short 34 years here left a mark on our world that few of us even dream of accomplishing in our lifetimes. By far his greatest accomplishments were his bonds of family and friends. Chad’s passion was racing, and he addressed those efforts like he did life, all-out. Racing is a very competitive sport and Chad was as competitive as anyone but the mark of this young man was clear when the Central Illinois Racing Community came by the hundreds from all over the Midwest to pay their respects to not only a respected competitor but a greater friend.

Chad’s greatest love was his family. His wife Rhonda and their children Megan (17), Kaitlyn (6), Wade (4), Chase (2) continue on as they know Chad would want them to, but the challenges of life along with the needs of a young family can be difficult. Chad was famous for helping anyone who needed a hand. He would lend his biggest racing competitor a needed part just before the Main event. In this same spirit a group of his family members and racing friends are joining forces to return some of those favors to help his family.

On Saturday, July 26th at the Havana VFW a Benefit will be held for Chad’s four children. All proceeds will go directly to these four great kids and a college fund established for them. The event will begin at 10am and will end when the fat lady sings. There will be some great food available, door prizes, 50/50 drawings, raffles, live music, and an auction starting at 1:00pm.

They desperately need your help in making this a very successful event. Please do anything you can by attending and also in making donations of auction/raffle items, direct donations, and just spreading the word. For more information email Doug Pratt at pratts3@casscomm.com or call him at 309-357-2665.

Godspeed Chad...
